How Kuyenda helped Samira continue to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor

This is the inspiring story of Samira Manuel Artur, a young girl from the Namacurra district in Mozambique, who has had her dream of studying rekindled thanks to the Kuyenda Collective team.

Samira lives in the town of Muebel, in the Dabada community, with her mother and three brothers. The boys are growing up without a father, which makes daily life a constant challenge for the family.

A year ago, Samira was attending ninth grade at Namacurra Secondary School and successfully passing her classes. However, at the start of the current year, Samira faced an obstacle: her family lacked the resources to cover the tuition fees. The situation reached the Kuyenda Collective team when Samira’s mother reached out for help.

After conducting a brief investigation and confirming the facts, the Kuyenda team spoke with Samira. She expressed a strong desire to return to school, and shared her big dreams for her future with the Kuyenda team. In response, the team worked closely with the district’s social action sector to find a solution.

They managed to not only secure Samira’s re-enrollment but also provided her with a certificate of poverty. This certificate guarantees that Samira will not have to pay any tuition fees for her secondary education and beyond.

Thanks to Kuyenda’s intervention, Samira’s right to continue her education was protected, and she is now back in school, excited and determined to pursue her dreams. Her ultimate goal is to one day become a doctor.
