Call to increase Tax-to-Gross National Product (GDP) ratios through progressive Tax Reforms
The Global Partnership for Education (GPE)’s ACTION ON TAX aims to increase Tax-to-Gross National Product (GDP) ratios through progressive tax reforms to change how global rules are set. Young people in rural settings demand progressive tax reforms and a change in how global rules are set so that they can have access to better education outcomes and opportunities.
The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) has taken a crucial step towards addressing the issue of education financing through its Action on Tax initiative. This program aims to increase tax-to-Gross National Product (GDP) ratios through progressive tax reforms and influence global rules to improve education outcomes, particularly in rural settings. By doing so, the GPE aims to improve the sustainability and equity of education financing, which is a critical issue for developing countries.
Education is a fundamental right and an essential component of human development. However, many developing countries struggle to provide adequate financing for education, especially in rural areas. This has led to a lack of access to quality education, resulting in poor education outcomes and limited opportunities for young people.
The GPE’s Action on Tax initiative seeks to address this issue by advocating for progressive tax reforms. This would increase the share of national resources that goes towards education, enabling governments to invest more in education in rural areas. The initiative also seeks to influence global rules that govern tax policies, which will have a significant impact on education financing in developing countries.
The Global Partnership for Education’s ACTION ON TAX initiative is a critical program that addresses the issue of education financing in a sustainable and equitable manner. By advocating for progressive tax reforms and influencing global rules, this program can help to improve the education outcomes of young people in rural settings, ultimately contributing to the development of their communities and the region as a whole. It is a promising step towards ensuring that all children have access to quality education, regardless of their location or socioeconomic status.
